Hey! Listen. You know that popular Christmas song called the 12 Days of Christmas? Athena over at AmbiGaming came up with a cool holiday themed community collaboration idea to gamify that kinda-as-annoying-as-Navi song (that we all love or hate). Basically, it’s a countdown list each day that ends up with 364 items, times however many bloggers do this, at the end of the event (something like that… my maths is bad). Be warned that my singing voice is terrible, but here we go, eh!
🎶 On the 2nd day of Blogmas, the gamers said to me: Tell us 11 games you love! 🎶
1) The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (N64)
This game will always be my all-time favourite game ever. I simply love traversing those 3 childhood dungeons, 5 Temples, and conquering Ganon’s Tower.
2) The entire Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy (PS3)
Yeah. I know this counts as 3 games… MY 12 Days of Blogmas song, MY rules. Ahem. I’ll always love having witnessed my shero’s story unfold over the course of this epic Final Fantasy trilogy.
3) Banjo-Kazooie (N64)
I’ve rambled about Banjo Kazooie in more detail for Normal Happenings’ Games that Define Us collaboration. I love the sarcastic bear and bird’s first adventure for being a huge part of my childhood.
4) Diddy Kong Racing (N64)
My very first 3D game ever. I love this kart racer for captivating young me with its whimsical charm.
5) Dragon Age Origins (PC)
No one messes with Grey Warden Ellen and her trademarked brand of brutal justice, delivered by two-handed axe while backed up by her badass crew. I love Dragon Age Origins for giving me a distraction from life’s drama, and for showing me that I can have demiromantic crushes on video game characters. Tee hee!
6) Mass Effect Andromeda (PS4)
Never judge a game by its internet hate-storm! I loved the characters, the world, and using Lightning’s… I mean, my Ryder’s badass biotic powers.
7) Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (PS2)
I’m a little ashamed to admit that I enjoy the Grand Theft Auto series, a lot. I loved creating havoc across the entire State of San Andreas, along with all the RPG elements it introduced to the series.
8) Metroid Prime (GameCube)
2D platformer Samus is cool and all that, but I’ll always prefer the behind the visor view of Metroid Prime. I loved the incredible boss fights and overall feel of the dying planet I was trying to save.
9) Pokemon Yellow (Game Boy)
This was my first Game Boy game. I remember being super excited for it to arrive after my mom ordered it from a department store catalogue, back in the day. I love this game for getting me hooked on collecting those adorable pocket monsters.
10) Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice (PS4)
Few games have impacted me like this one. I love Senua for teaching me that it’s not a curse to see reality in a different way.
11) Assassin’s Creed II
I liked the first Assassin’s Creed game despite its repetitive gameplay, but the second game in the series was a home run. I love this game for introducing me to Ezio Auditore, and for teaching me bad words in Italian. Grazie!
Wow. It was quite hard to pick a list out of so many great games I’ve had the privilege of playing over the years. These were mostly random games off the top of my head that I enjoyed playing.
Oh and to continue the Blogmas song:
🎶 … and the link to my 12 gaming memories! 🎶
Be sure to check out the host Goddess of Wisdom’s version of the song thus far (including links to other participants, eh).
