I’m shamelessly stealing the Mass Effect Month article series created by the always awesome Athena over on AmbiGaming in 2017 (which was the Mass Effect 10th anniversary) and turning it into one of those 30 day challenge thingys! Definitely check out Athena Veta’s great content on AmbiGaming and consider supporting her Video Game Relevancy Crusade (TM) on Patreon, if ya got a few bucks to spare.
Please Note: Enjoy… but be warned that there will be unmarked SPOILERS for all of the Mass Effect games. Read at your own risk!
Today’s Mass Effect series question: What’s your favorite class to play?
True to my own heart, my Commander Shepard preference is a simple Solider (I’ve also played as Adept, Engineer, and Infiltrator for trophy reasons). My preferred playstyle in any game is to run in with guns blazing and punch things, and then maybe ask questions later if any of my enemies are left standing. Playing Solider on the easy difficulties made my first Shepard feel like a total invincible warrior goddess. What a rush!
With my first Ryder in Andromeda, I adopted more of the Vanguard way. The biotic powers were so freaking amazing to play with, but I wanted to keep my brute force options open. Throwing kett around will always be a fond gaming memory of mine. I’m also grateful that SAM allows Ryder to be whatever class you want at any given time. This helped me a ton with Platinum Trophy requirements.
My second Ryder was focused on Engineer for one primary reason: this was my Insanity difficulty run for the trophy. As a Master Engineer, I could let my squad mates and constructs wipe out all of the overpowered enemies while I hid safely in the corner. That “strategy” worked well for me!
