I’m shamelessly stealing the Mass Effect Month article series created by the always awesome Athena over on AmbiGaming in 2017 (which was the Mass Effect 10th anniversary) and turning it into one of those 30 day challenge thingys! Definitely check out Athena Veta’s great content on AmbiGaming and consider supporting her Video Game Relevancy Crusade (TM) on Patreon, if ya got a few bucks to spare.
Please Note: Enjoy… but be warned that there will be unmarked SPOILERS for all of the Mass Effect games. Read at your own risk!
Today’s Mass Effect series question: Who is your favorite male companion character?
After much thought, my turian pal Garrus edges out Thane the benevolent assassin for the title of my favourite male companion character. I feel a strong bond of friendship with Garrus that’s hard to put into words. He’s brutally honest, incredibly sarcastic, and always calibrating something (never underestimate the value of calibrated equipment). Liara was my super-BFF, but Garrus was my BFF across three entire video games, and that’s just something special I’ll never forget.
Oh and I forgot to mention the similar dancing styles he shares with Shepard (and IRL me). Rock it! Rhythm is overrated.
Now because I feel Mass Effect Andromeda deserves more love than it gets, I’m also going to give a shout-out to my favourite male companion character in that game too. I easily can give the nod to Jaal Ama Darav. I loved his selfless nature, sense of humour, and deep thoughts on dealing with feelz. He was just generally an awesome character to have by my side.
