Month of Mass Effect, Day 7: Favourite Female Friend

I’m shamelessly stealing the Mass Effect Month article series created by the always awesome Athena over on AmbiGaming in 2017 (which was the Mass Effect 10th anniversary) and turning it into one of those 30 day challenge thingys! Definitely check out Athena Veta’s great content on AmbiGaming and consider supporting her Video Game Relevancy Crusade (TM) on Patreon, if ya got a few bucks to spare.

Please Note: Enjoy… but be warned that there will be unmarked SPOILERS for all of the Mass Effect games. Read at your own risk!

Today’s Mass Effect series question: Who is your favourite female companion character?

Other than the super amazing asari Liara T’Soni (since she gets lots of love from me all the time), my next favourite fearsome female character is Tali’Zorah vas Normandy. She’s a total sarcastic badass and another one of those BFF characters I got to spend 3 whole video games with. I admire her intelligence and I have absolutely no idea how she survives in that environmental suit all the time. I’ll never forget the heartfelt bear hug my first Shepard gave her as a Paragon option during her loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2. D’aww!

I’ll also NEVER forget (or EVER stop laughing) at Tali almost poisoning herself with cheese while listening to an incredibly awkward sexual feelings chat that Samantha Traynor and EDI were having 😂

Mass Effect Andromeda needs more love, as always, so I’m going to include my favourite female character from that game too! That nod goes to Pelessaria B’Sayle (aka Peebee) the lively asari researcher who is quite unlike any other asari I’ve met before. Peebee plays by her own rules and doesn’t need anyone in her life. I admire her badass outcast ways and how she stays true to her heart. I will never stop laughing at the sucker punch Peebee gives her evil ex-girlfriend Kalinda, as they are running for their lives during Peebee’s loyalty mission.

Yeah. You could have Ryder kill Kalinda, if you so choose, but this seems like the proper way to deal with toxic exes!

Thanks for reading!

Really like what you read and feel like financially supporting Livid Lightning? HA! Probably not, but hey, here’s a couple ways to fuel my writing pipe dream!

My name is Ellen, and I've been babbling on the interwebz about video games for over 15 years. Video games themselves have been a large part of my life since 5-year-old me first encountered a SNES in a children's hospital. Fun times... Video game escapism is still the #1 coping mechanism for adult me these days.

  1. Great choices once again I agree with your choices, I really loved Tali’s story arc over the games how she got over the Quarian issues with the Geth came to respect them and see Legion as a friend, and Peebee is such a fun character the way she comes barreling into Ryder’s life and literally knocks you on your back she’s so different to the other Asari like you said and such an energetic character too always running off to do something I’d never be able to keep up with her irl 😂

  2. I really loved Tali and Peebee. I actually hooked up with Peebee in my playthrough of Andromeda, IDK, she stood out to me as a potential romance partner in the trailers for the game and I was like “I am determined to romance her!”

I also romanced Tali in ME2 but yeah, both would be epic friends IRL. Great choices and I loved Tali’s story arc over the games and Peebee was such a great character; I do hope there is a sequel in the works for Andromeda that hopefully fixes all the problems I had with the game and that we see more of Peebee. ( I STILL HAVE TO FINISH THAT REVIEW!
