I’m shamelessly stealing the Mass Effect Month article series created by the always awesome Athena over on AmbiGaming in 2017 (which was the Mass Effect 10th anniversary) and turning it into one of those 30 day challenge thingys! Definitely check out Athena Veta’s great content on AmbiGaming and consider supporting her Video Game Relevancy Crusade (TM) on Patreon, if ya got a few bucks to spare.
Please Note: Enjoy… but be warned that there will be unmarked SPOILERS for all of the Mass Effect games. Read at your own risk!
Today’s Mass Effect series question: Which species is your favourite?
There are SO MANY unique alien species in the Mass Effect series. It’s actually quite impressive how much depth and lore there is behind each one. Superb job with story weaving there, BioWare.
I can easily pick a favourite, though! And that would of course be the asari: a monogendered race of badass blue women with biotic powers and a strong military system. Gender doesn’t mean a damn thing to the asari, and thus are able to partner with virtually anyone they want to. Plus they can live for, like, a thousand years. That’s freaking amazing!
Although members of the asari are often portrayed in a, um, overtly sexual light in the games (read: a lot of them are seductresses and strippers), the asari reproduction meld does not actually require any of that sexual physical contact stuff I’m not a fan of. Liara stole my demiromantic asexual heart as soon as she told me that in Mass Effect 1. ❤
In closing, I love Liara!! Oh and the asari as a race, too, since that was today’s question answer, right? Liara rocks!!
