I’m shamelessly stealing the Mass Effect Month article series created by the always awesome Athena over on AmbiGaming in 2017 (which was the Mass Effect 10th anniversary) and turning it into one of those 30 day challenge thingys! Definitely check out Athena Veta’s great content on AmbiGaming and consider supporting her Video Game Relevancy Crusade (TM) on Patreon, if ya got a few bucks to spare.
Please Note: Enjoy… but be warned that there will be unmarked SPOILERS for all of the Mass Effect games. Read at your own risk!
Today’s Mass Effect series question: What was the weirdest moment in the games?
Oooo! This is a good question (Athena is in general great at asking good questions that get people thinking about games, by the way). I have encountered a few weird glitch related occurrences across the Mass Effect games. No game is perfect.
The biggest “WTF is going on?” moment for me was during my Mass Effect 1 Insanity run. On Noveria, Liara decided to glitch through a corridor in the science labs and fall into no man’s land. It showed her on the radar but off of the main map area, then she eventually disappeared from my team entirely. I had to reload since there was no way in hell Ashley and my Shepard could take out Matriarch Benezia on Insanity difficulty without Liara. Jeez. I was also gaming with an awesome friend at the time and had a blast lol-sobbing about the whole thing with them.
Yes. Andromeda was/kinda still is full of glitches. This one was great, though! Let’s just say I like trying to climb into areas that developers don’t want you to reach. I’m weird like that (I spent my first half hour in Dragon Age Inquisition trying to climb onto roofs in the starting town… so yeah). While partaking in that activity, my Ryder inexplicably glitched through the cliff and fell. The best part? That earned me the trophy for jumping 30 meters for some odd reason.
