Month of Mass Effect, Day 22: Seemingly Impossible

Today’s Mass Effect series question: What was the hardest part of the games?

Yep. I’m going to have to agree with Athena’s answer on this one. Matriarch Benezia on Insanity Difficult was the absolute hardest time I’ve ever had in any of the Mass Effect games to date. This answer is subject to change since I’ll be finishing up Mass Effect 2 on Insanity soon, and then doing a Mass Effect 3 Insanity run after that. I’ll likely run into a few rage-inducing roadblocks there, for sure.

But yes, for now Benezia and her Asari Commandos can go jump out the nearest airlock. Ugh. Waves of geth, relentless biotic assaults, just… ow. Luckily, upon my millionth death, I found a neat trick to off Benezia in the final phase fairly easily. Liara’s maxed out Lift ability immobilizes her mom for a painless takedown…. if you can take out more Asari Commandos before they destroy you. Gah! I have no idea how I beat this fight twice on Insanity (I accidentally killed off the Rachni Queen and couldn’t live with myself).

Achieving seemingly impossible goals in video games is actually a good life lesson. Hard work almost always pays off in then end. It’s important to never give up on anything or anyone. Hold love in your heart, fix your faults, and push forward through your learning pains. Even if you don’t achieve your goals in the end, at least you’ll be a better person for it. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a new path in the process!

  1. I struggled with this on normal when I played first nevermind Insanity. Mainly because this was the first place I went to after getting the choice so had a hard time once I got to this fight. Made it feel so easy going to Therum and Feros in comparison to Noveria.
